No, it's just that before his/her apostasy, there was someone to blame.

A guilty man --
even a bright sunshine
was his reason!

Funny thing, I know a woman, a poet, whose conversion to Catholicism began when she realized that, although she didn't believe in God, she knew Someone was to blame for everything she found unsatisfactory in the universe. The apostate in my poem is just feeling a bit deprived.

You're actually implying that an apostate is more (or less!) than human! Should I wish I was one? I enjoy your senryu -- they make me ponder, and not just think.

Having someone/something to blame can be comforting, even if we have to invent him/her/it for the purpose.

Beautiful, silly, freedom. It used to rain "on me." Now, it just rains.
