a sign that says
souvenirs de Paris—
laughing Buddha
but I just saw that Buddha; I didn't buy it. I do have several Buddhas in my apartment and, since yesterday, one in my garden.

All Saints, November 1, is a holy day in the Roman Catholic Church. While honoring the saints canonized by the Church (going to Mass) I broaden the definition of saint to include the holy men and women of other traditions, notably the Buddha. I place this in a context of homely domesticity: a statue to be dusted. Does that clear it up, devika? I can, of course, only speak of my intention. Meaning is between the poem and the reader.
:-)
November 1 is also Kerala day...Kerala is the indian state i belong to. the state had its borders set on November 1, 1956.
