weight

a bee's weight
on the petal
summer's end

Summer's end? Why, it's only beginning! But we're still learning, and we posted this for practice.

This time, photo and verse are both mine.

welcome to haiga ! they are both lovely Bill ... i particularly like the one with lights as it works on so many levels with open ended meaning.

Thanks, Gina and Vaughn. Neither of these poems was written with haiga in mind. It was Pat's idea to match them up with the pictures. You'll probably be seeing some more conscious efforts in this direction in the future.

I like the idea of the 'bee's weight', comparative to the melancholy one might feel at summer's end, or one could imply the end of a certain era.

Lovely haiga, Bill :)

and I enjoyed your note....what I can't make out, is why change a fact for practice sake!! :)

hey, no -- I get the idea, I think :)

Both the picture and the poem date from the end of a previous summer, Devika. I posted it now ("out of season") because I'm trying to get the hang of composing and posting haiga--that's the practice I'm talking about.

I like your reading, Willie.

this is a knockout haiku - I imagine as the petals are nearing their prime, even bees will begin to feel heavy

Im thrilled to see you trying your hand at haiga

Thanks, Dalloway. Haiku remains my first love, but haiga is kinda cute.

I can read this slightly differently. It's like the bee is up the more summery end of the flower, getting the biggest dose of sun that it can.

I like the inclusion of haiga.
