Deeper meaning for an Independence? (Sounds familiar.)

Independence Day, July 4, celebrates the signing of the Declaration of Independence (1776), in which the colonies declared their independence from England. It is sometimes called America's birthday.

By the way, in response to a recent survey, 26% of Americans couldn't say what or whom America declared independence from.

Thanks, Devika, Marcel, and Tikkis.

Great one, Bill. We are always late for family functions, so I can relate. :)

As a Social Studies teacher, I can say without hesitation that that percentage is likely to grow in the coming years. It's so sad how little history today's children know. I'm doing my best to instill what little I can in the nine months I have them!!!

Bill: After visiting Marcel Peltier's blog I wrote a Liberté-senryuu:

Liberté!
The toast
ready to be eaten.

--Marcel got a nice text from Sartre:

You are free,
choose,
that is to say,invent.
