I've just been informed that this haiku has won third place in the Haiku North America haiku contest. Haiku North America is a gathering of haiku poets that occurs every other year. This year's meeting, which I was unable to attend, took place aboard the Queen Mary, in Long Beach CA. Approximately 1500 entries were submitted to the contest.
